Osisioma derives from Igbo: “Osisi” (tree/wood) + “Ọma” (good/beautiful) — “Good Tree” or “Beautiful Wood”. The name reflects the iconic Delonix regia (flame tree) that adorns courtyards. A greater part of Aba city lies within the LGA, stretching to Faulks Road.
The people are industrious farmers, traders, and artisans. Traditional attire includes the ọgọdọ woven cloth and ceremonial Isiagụ top with red caps for dignitaries.
